Some people just want their trees cut down. For others, the job isn’t done until the stump is ground completely out of the landscape. Our stump crew specializes in grinding out even the trickiest stumps. Stump grinding typically goes down 6 – 8 inches under the surface, and we offer three main tree service options to go with our tree removal services.

Grind & Go

Stump Mulch Left Behind

This is the cheapest stump grinding option. We will grind the stump and leave the resulting pile of what we call “stump mulch” behind. The size of that pile depends on the size of the stump. That mixture of wood chips and dirt will settle down some overtime, or it can be used to fill in low spots in the yard, dumped in the woods, or placed around gardens.

Grind & Remove

Grindings Removed

This option leaves your property a little neater than the Grind & Go option. We’ll grind the stump and remove the grindings down to ground level. While this is a little more expensive, it saves you the trouble of doing it yourself and looks better than leaving a pile of stump mulch. This is popular for trees in decorative mulch beds or in grassy areas if you want to grow grass yourself!

Grind & Grass

What Tree?

This is our top-of-the-line stump grinding option and a real “turn-key” solution to stumps in existing turf areas. We will perform the Grind & Remove service and then add a soil conditioner/topsoil mix, high-quality grass seed, and straw over the disturbed area. In order to guarantee grass grows, you will need to water it, but once it comes in, it’ll look like the tree was never even there.

After Removing a Tree, We Can Also Remove The Stump

Removing stumps from the ground is important for many reasons. Decaying stumps attract pests like carpenter ants and termites, which can be a nuisance. These pests find their way to find their way into surrounding trees or even your home. Secondly, stumps post a tripping hazard that most people do not want in their yard. Unless it’s out in the forest or on a property with historical significance, a decaying stump isn’t pleasant to look at in most circumstances. Stumps are also a hazard for lawnmowers and other construction equipment.

Stump Removal vs. Stump Grinding

Stump removal is an in-depth process. It involves digging out the stump and all of a tree’s roots. These tree roots can extend far beyond the stump. Digging out the entire tree disrupts the fungal network of the yard and can affect nearby trees and other structures. It leaves a gaping hole in the yard that will need to be filled. On the other hand, stump grinding is an easier, more eco-friendly option.

Stump Grinding Equipment

Our high-quality stump grinder uses forceful rotating blades to smash the stump’s wood into mulch, even below the ground. This leaves most of the tree’s root system intact to decay naturally. Our professional arborists are happy to provide stump grinding services to finish off a tree removal job. While our crew members make stump grinding look easy, we do not recommend this equipment to inexperienced laborers. It is essential to take all necessary safety precautions to avoid destroying pipes or sending wood chips, nails, and glass shards flying through your windows.
